IP Service Verification and Customer QoE Measurement
The convergence of voice, video, and data traffic has propelled broadband Internet connections into the home and displaced dedicated connections in the enterprise. Using their legacy network monitoring techniques, service providers are finding it very hard to provide IP service verification and converged network monitoring to diagnose customer problems without an on-site technician truck roll. Passive monitoring tools can't measure what customers see: end-to-end performance. They can't perform proper IP service verification in order to determine end user quality of experience or measure service level agreement (SLA) conformance, since they only passively watch traffic.
A revolutionary new approach to network monitoring is needed to support carrier networks that offer converged services, one that uses active customer traffic over the customer's delivery path to validate service. IxRave measures true end-to-end performance for multiplay services across an entire network.
- Fault isolation - IxRave isolates network segments, allowing each segment to be tested and diagnosed. Mean time to diagnosis and repair is vastly improved.
- Turn-up validation - IxRave verifies that new services have been correctly provisioned and satisfy SLA requirements. Billing can begin faster.
- Predeployment network assessment - IxRave takes measurements to ensure that the network will perform correctly as new updates, devices, and services are deployed. Network disruptions introduced by "minor" updates are minimized.
- Ongoing active monitoring - IxRave utilizes scheduled performance tests to ensure network and customer QoE and SLA levels. Customer problems and complaints are avoided by proactive testing.
IxRave's patent pending architecture features a combination of software probes, inexpensive hardware probes, and Ixia test chassis to achieve full network coverage on a carrier-grade scale. Millions of subscribers are efficiently covered without special-purpose hardware at each network node, DSLAM, or customer location.

Case Study
- Bell Canada's Sympatico xDSL Network - describes how Bell Canada turned a spiraling maintenance problem into multi-million dollar savings through the use of IxRave. Bell Canada's ROI on its investment in IxRave was 8 months, largely due to the elimination of unnecessary truck rolls.
