Test Broadband Network Devices

Testing broadband network devices that provide access to network resources from a wide variety of end-user communities is addressed by several Ixia test applications. Users connect to their networks using IP, PPPoE, PPPoA and PPPoEoA. Edge devices must handle negotiations with users and forward traffic using several protocols, including PPP, L2TP and PPTP. Other network devices must forward these protocols as well as terminating the tunneled sessions to IP traffic. A variety of authentication techniques are used as well.

IxANVL provides conformance tests for the PPP, L2TP and PPTP broadband access protocols. IxNetwork provides performance testing for all forms of PPP/L2TP session/tunnel authentication, session establishment and forwarding. IxAutomate provides tests specific to data performance testing in a broadband environment.
