Testing of routing and switching devices becomes more and more complex as the scale of the Internet grows along with the power and breadth of the core and edge routers used for the vast volume of traffic. Requirements for private networks, multiplay delivery, and resiliency have mandated the need for a wide variety of protocols. Testing routing and switching requires a test system capable of emulating millions of client endpoints and the millions of traffic flows necessary to accurately measure performance. Ixia's Aptixia IxNetwork has proven its ability to fully test the largest Internet routers.

Increased traffic volume also means large-scale switches and routers with many 1 GbE and 10 GbE interfaces. Ixia's XM12 chassis and Ethernet interfaces provide the port scaling needed for modern devices: 192 ports of 1GbE or 96 ports of 10 GbE in a single 10U chassis.

IxANVL - automatically validate network/protocol compliance and interoperability. IxANVL provides a conformance suite for testing Metro Ethernet Forum 9 requirements.

IxAutomate - automates performance, scalability, and functional testing of network devices. IxAutomate includes scripts to test service attributes defined in MEF 14. Additional tests are included, which may be used to qualify the underlying Carrier Ethernet technologies, such as LACP.
